The Gherkin is one of London’s most iconic buildings. Opened in May 2004, this office block is a triumph in modern architecture, winning many prizes for its design. The building is officially 20 St Mary Axe, but is fondly known as the gherkin due to its distinctive shape. The Variety Club is a children’s charity which raises money to help children in deprived areas and social situations to have more positive life experiences.
